Brigadier General (ret.) Roosevelt Barfield, Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) 2006-2007 and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa 2008-2009. His 32-year military career started as an enlisted soldier in the Lawrence unit of the Kansas National Guard, commissioned a 2LT from KU ROTC and rose to the rank of One-Star General. Some of his many military awards includes the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Badge, Defense Superior Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, NATO medal.
